What we do?

Cardiothoracic Surgery involves surgery to the various parts of the chest. More commonly, surgery of the heart, lung, oesophagus and major arteries within the chest.

Valvular Heart Disease

We undertake corrective surgery of the heart valves commonly valve replacements to the aortic and mitral valves.

Coronary Artery Disease

One the commonest surgeries undertaken is coronary artery bypass grafting for blocked coronary arteries.

Lung Surgery

Our lung surgery is usually undertaken for lung cancer and inflammatory lung disease. In keeping with current trends world-wide, we undertake video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (key-hole surgery) for both lung resections and lung biopsies.

Oesophagus Disease

This usually involves cancer of the oesophagus and involves a multi-disciplinary team approach, which includes a general surgeon and oncologist.
